Carrot and Ginger Juice for sunless tanning

23 Mar

So spring has arrived, and that means summer will be here before we know it! Ever heard that little beauty trick (or beauty horror story depending on how you heard it) that carrots can give your skin kind of an orange glow? Well, all that beta carotene that makes carrots bright orange can actually have an effect on your skin tone, and give you a bit of an orange hue as well. (note: you have to eat an eff ton, so don’t freak out and stop eating your bebeh carrots for fear of looking like one, you guys, okay?!) My Irish pallor leaves me pretty pasty by winter’s end, and I’m still working up to bikini weather, so I’m working on my sunless Vitamin A glow in the mean time with a steady intake of carrot juice. We’ll see if it has any real effect over the next few weeks. lol

Here’s one of the ways I like to get my carrot juice on:

4-6 carrots, washed (mine were kinda skinny so I used 6 or 7 to get a full glass)
1 apple, quartered (I prefer to core mine, but not necessary)
1 orange, peeled
1 tablespoon of ginger, or to taste (I like a lot of ginger!)
Put all these delicious offerings into your Breville juicer (or juicer of choice!), juice that goodness up, pour into a goblet, and drink up! Hopefully, you’ll have a nice glow about you in no time. I’ll update my skin tone vs. this experiment in a few weeks. You guys have an awesome weekend, and check back Monday for my dairy-free blueberry ginger chia pudding, that I can already tell you is the bomb. You will WANT to try this asap!

Hi, I really loved your recipe ! and I’d like to know if you really noticed a different skin tone and did you get a tan by eating carrots ?

you know, I actually did! My skin was more vibrant, and had a very healthy glow. It will turn you orange though if you drink too much (but that’s a WHOLE LOT) lol
